Sarah

A fierce lover of dad jokes and puns, Sarah seeks whimsy outdoors as often as she can. She enjoys whitewater kayaking, disc golf, mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, and climbing in that order. She lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee with her partner and their dog.

She holds a B.A. and two master’s degrees from a combination of universities. She also holds a PhD from Vanderbilt University and has lived and worked in Asia and Europe.

Sarah works full-time as a French teacher and outdoor sports coach, but she loves learning new things and has been working hard to support Wilderness Response Network’s initiatives.

Sarah has been featured in news articles for her relief efforts following Hurricane Helene, and she is also an American Red Cross award recipient for helping rescue a man whose boat had caught fire in the Tennessee River.

Watch the video below to see how she credits the collective efforts of the whitewater paddling community for granting her the skills she needed to safely help others on water.
